Article1 TheMeasures are formulated in accordance with the Trial Measures for Chinese Degree Award to International Students inChina by Regular Institutions of Higher Education (Degree [1991] No.17),with reference to the implementation measures for master degree award in ouruniversity and in combination with the actual situation of graduate studentsstudying in our university.
Article2 TheMeasures are applicable to the application and award of Master degree and thework related to the degree of graduate international students studying in China(hereinafter referred to as graduate international students) who have obtainedthe status of our school.
Article3 Alldisciplines (majors) that have the qualification to recruit Master students inour school have the qualification to award corresponding Master degrees tograduate international students.
Article4 Toapply for a Master degree, a graduate international student must meet thefollowing conditions:
(1)Abide by the laws and regulations of the People's Republic of China, abide bythe rules and regulations of the school, behave well, understand China and befriendly to China;
(2)In the prescribed study period, complete all the courses and compulsory partsin the study plan and obtain the prescribed credits;
(3)Have a certain Chinese level. For subjects (majors) taught in English, studentsshould pass HSK level three or equivalentschool-developed tests; For subjects (majors) taught inChinese, students should pass HSK level five or equivalent school-developed tests;
(4)Complete the research and writing of the dissertation, pass the dissertationdefense and shall not apply for a degree to another degree-granting unit at thesame time (except for the case where the school and other universities jointlytrain the students and explicitly award degrees with both parties).
Article5 AMaster degree shall not be awarded if one of the following circumstancesexists:
(1)Violate the laws and regulations of the People’s Republic of China and besubject to criminal punishment;
(2)Be subject to probation and above punishment during the school period;
(3)With serious academic misconduct during school; Or has been found seriousacademic misconduct after passing the dissertation defense.
Article6 Duringthe school period, in relation to Article 5(2) of the Measures, if one of thefollowing conditions is met after the punishment for graduate internationalstudents takes effect, they can apply for a Master degree after the punishmentis lifted.
(1)Win the honorary title of outstanding graduate students at or above the schoollevel;
(2)Win the Chinese government scholarship, Tianjin government scholarship for internationalstudents or excellent academic scholarship;
(3)Have been awarded an excellent Master degree dissertation at or above theschool level;
(4)Be admitted as a doctoral student;
(5)With outstanding academic performance.
Article7 Theaward of the Master degree for graduate international students shall be carriedout in accordance with the relevant provisions on Master degree award inschools.
Article8 Agraduate international student who has passed the defense of a Master degree dissertationbut does not meet the conditions for Awarding a Master degree may re-apply fora Master degree within 2 years from the date of the defense. If it exceeds 2years, it shall be deemed as they automatically abandon the qualification forapplying for a Master degree.
Article9 TheSchool of International Education shall be responsible for the interpretationof the Measures.
Article10 TheMeasures shall come into force as of June 1, 2020.
