I. University Overview
Tianjin Chengjian University is a municipal public higher education institution in Tianjin. Founded in 1978, it was originally the Fourth Branch of Tianjin University, offering undergraduate education supported by Tianjin University. It was renamed the Architecture Branch of Tianjin University in 1979, Tianjin Institute of Urban Construction in 1987, and officially became Tianjin Chengjian University in 2013.
Over its 48 years of development, the University upholds and strengthens the overall leadership of the Communist Party of China over university affairs, fully implements the Party’s educational policies, and adheres to the socialist orientation of education. Taking fostering virtue through education as its fundamental mission and "Developing Urban Science, Cultivating Construction Talents" as its school-running purpose, the University embraces the educational philosophy of "Relying on Industries, Highlighting Characteristics, Prioritizing Quality, and Pursuing Excellence", and abides by the university motto of "Valuing Morality and Competence, Being Diligent in Learning and Construction". In serving the advancement of new urbanization and urban modernization, it has formed a distinctive school-running feature: "Rooted in urban construction, closely connected with industries, integrating moral cultivation and competency training, and cultivating versatile and application-oriented talents with professionalism and dedication".
The University attaches great importance to the all-round development of students in morality, intelligence, physical health, aesthetics and labor education. Student-centered education reform has been continuously deepened, steadily improving the quality of talent cultivation, and its graduates are widely recognized by all sectors of society.
The University currently offers 54 undergraduate programs, including 10 National First-class Undergraduate Programs, 14 Tianjin Municipal First-class Undergraduate Programs, 1 National Characteristic Program, 1 national and 2 municipal comprehensive reform pilot programs, 33 key emerging engineering programs of Tianjin, 7 municipal brand specialty construction projects, 5 municipal strategic emerging industry-related specialty projects, 8 municipal superior and characteristic specialties, and 12 municipal application-oriented specialties. Three programs have passed the engineering education accreditation by the Ministry of Education, and five programs have passed the undergraduate program evaluation (accreditation) by the Ministry of Housing and Urban-Rural Development.
In terms of curriculum development, the University has 12 national first-class courses, 40 municipal first-class courses under construction, 1 national model course for ideological and political education in curriculum granted by the Ministry of Education, 13 municipal high-quality courses, 15 municipal university-level curriculum ideological and political demonstration courses, 2 municipal high-quality special courses on Party history education, and 4 municipal brand English-taught courses for international students in China. A total of 15 national and provincial-level planned textbooks and 4 municipal excellent textbooks for curriculum ideological and political education have been approved.
It is equipped with 1 national off-campus practical education base for college students, 1 national social practice base for Chinese and foreign teenagers, 10 municipal experimental teaching demonstration centers, 1 municipal virtual simulation experimental teaching center, 1 municipal virtual teaching and research section pilot project, 1 municipal labor education practice base for primary and secondary school students, 5 municipal industry-education integration postgraduate workstations (including under cultivation), 3 municipal off-campus innovative practice bases for postgraduate education, and 1 modern urban construction industry college.
The University has established strategic cooperative relations with nearly 60 universities across 29 countries and built more than 40 international cooperation platforms. Every year, over 1,600 teachers and students participate in international exchange programs. It is the third municipal university in Tianjin that has passed the Quality Certification for International Student Education in China issued by the Ministry of Education. To date, the University has educated more than 1,400 long-term and short-term international students from 40 countries.
It has participated in the joint construction of the Tajikistan Luban Workshop to explore a new model of integration between vocational and general education as well as industry and education. Rated as the "Tianjin Model Unit for Introducing Foreign Experts and Intellectual Resources", the University has obtained over 100 national and provincial projects for introducing foreign talents.

Applicants shall be aged between 18 and 25, in good health, and hold a high school diploma or above.

*Accommodation on campus is not provided during winter and summer vacations.
