At the start of the semester, to ensure accountability for the safety management of international student housing and to accurately track the check-in status of new students, Li Jia, Secretary of the Party Branch directly under SIE; Wang Xiao, Dean of SIE; Pan Hui, Associate Dean of SIE, led a group of student advisors to visit the international student dormitories to conduct safety inspections and extend greetings to the new students.
The leadership team first conducted a comprehensive inspection of dormitory safety and environmental conditions, focusing on the management of electrical usage. They strictly prohibited risky behaviors such as the use of unauthorized electrical appliances and the haphazard piling of items, and confirmed that fire safety equipment was in good working order. At the same time, they inspected the operational status of the dormitory’s communal kitchen facilities, checking the condition of the equipment and the cleanliness of the area, and documented each issue found. They verified on-site the return of returning students and the move-in status of newly enrolled students who had already registered, and updated the dormitory management records.
During the visits, college leaders engaged in cordial conversations with the newly arrived international students, carefully inquired about their entry into the country and their adjustment to campus life, gathered feedback on their practical needs regarding housing and daily life, and provided guidance on matters such as residence permit applications, campus safety, and daily academic management. They encouraged the new students to integrate into campus life as soon as possible and to promptly report any difficulties to the SIE. The international students also expressed their hope to make greater progress and gain more from their studies and daily life in the new semester.
This visit helped gain a clearer understanding of the current state of international students’ housing, eliminate safety hazards, and facilitate communication between faculty and students. The SIE will continue to strengthen its routine dormitory inspection mechanism, balance safety oversight with compassionate care, respond promptly to international students’ concerns, and create a safe, inclusive, and high-quality living environment to ensure the smooth and orderly operation of international student education and management in the new semester.
