With the cool autumn wind and the heady fragrance of laurel blossoms, we have been grateful to embrace the Mid-Autumn Festival, one of China’s traditional festivals. On September 26th, the School of International Education together with in-campus overseas students carried out the activity of “Full Moon on the Mid-Autumn Festival, Full Love in the Tianjin Chengjian University” to experience Chinese traditional culture. The leading group of our school, the Chinese language teacher, the counsellors for international students, as well as students from Mali, Uganda, Nigeria, Morocco, and Pakistan took part in the activity.
At the beginning of the activity, the Chinese language teacher explained the origin of the Mid-Autumn Festival and the customs of admiring the full moon and eating mooncakes and pomegranates on this day for overseas students vividly and in detail with pictures and texts. After that, the leader of the school Prof. Zhanghai distributed mooncakes and pomegranates to international students. The dean also extended the festival blessings to the students on behalf of the school and encouraged them to actively introduce and publicize more about Tianjin to their hometowns, resolve to be practitioners and promoters for China-foreign cultural exchanges, and become bridges and ties to boost understandings and friendships among countries. The Chinese and foreign teachers and students have strengthened their friendships while eating mooncakes. From Chinese stories, overseas students experienced the extensive and profound Chinese traditional culture of long standing.
Silver from Uganda and Nana from Mali expressed their gratitude to the university and the college on behalf of all overseas students. They said, “Through the culture experiencing activity today, we have known about the Mid-autumn Festival and experienced the warmth in the foreign country. In the future, we will cherish the opportunities to learn in Tianjin Chengjian University, work hard in study, and expand perspectives in our lives. Also we will strive to become outstanding talents in professional fields and the messengers of friendships in China-foreign exchanges and cooperation.”
This year marks the 10th anniversary for the Belt and Road Initiative. The International Education College will actively do a good job to promote achievements of the university’s international education, make Chinese voice heard, and tell China's stories to international students.
