In the golden autumn of September, international freshmen from nearly ten countries and regions worldwide gathered on campus. On September 26, School of International Education (SIE) convened an orientation conference for international newcomers under the theme “Integrating Chinese and Western Cultures, Building Dreams at Jianyuan.” Collaborating with multiple departments, SIE established service bridges to help international students swiftly integrate into campus life and studies. Dean Wang Xiao of the School of International Education, along with representatives from the Teaching Management Office and the International Student Affairs Office, attended the meeting.

At the event, Dean Wang Xiao first welcomed the new international students on behalf of SIE, commending their journey across oceans and mountains to pursue studies in China. She encouraged them to build upon their professional knowledge and leverage cultural exchange as a bridge to become ambassadors of Sino-foreign communication. He also urged the newcomers to embrace diverse cultures with an open mindset and achieve personal growth through exploration and practical learning.

International student counselors conducted a dedicated session interpreting policies on immigration regulations, reward and punishment provisions, and dormitory safety. Using case studies, they emphasized the importance of abiding by laws and regulations during their stay in China, strictly prohibiting illegal activities such as drug trafficking or use, unauthorized employment, illegal residency, and alcohol-related disturbances. This aimed to enhance students' awareness of legal compliance and safety precautions while improving their ability to protect themselves. Academic affairs staff systematically explained regulations on student status management, attendance policies, and graduation requirements, helping international students establish a foundational understanding of their academic programs.

At the registration site, counselors provided full-process assistance with visa registration, dormitory arrangements, and campus card issuance. Additionally, cultural activities like lacquer fan crafting (a form of intangible cultural heritage) and photo booths enhanced the students' experience and satisfaction.

A new student from Tajikistan shared, “From visa processing and cultural experiences to orientation, SIE's meticulous management and services have made me feel truly welcomed. I'm very much looking forward to my four years on campus.”

Moving forward, School of International Education will continue to focus on the developmental needs of international students. It will meticulously plan and organize a series of orientation activities to help students integrate more quickly and effectively into campus life in China. This effort contributes to Tianjin Chengjian University's mission of cultivating ambassadors who understand, appreciate, and cherish China.
