To foster cultural exchange among Chinese and international students and cultivate a vibrant bilingual learning environment, the meticulously prepared “Chinese Corner” and “English Corner” at the School of International Education (SIE) were officially unveiled and launched on December 8th in the activity area of the International Student Dormitory and Room A204 of SIE. School leadership, faculty representatives, Chinese and foreign students from Republic of the Congo, Thailand, Morocco, and Nigeria jointly witnessed this warm and meaningful occasion.

At the outset of the event, Wang Xiao, Dean of SIE, extended warm congratulations on behalf of the school for the establishment of the “Chinese Corner” and “English Corner.” Wang Xiao emphasized that the language corner activity area serves not only as a venue for students' language learning but also as a vital platform for cultural interaction and intellectual exchange. Chinese and international students should fully leverage this platform to enhance their language skills in a relaxed and enjoyable environment, gain a deeper appreciation for the charm of Chinese and international cultures, and truly achieve “integration of Chinese and international cultures, sharing the beauty of diversity.”

Subsequently, Li Jia, Secretary of the Directly Affiliated Party Branch of SIE, and Wang Xiao unveiled the signage for the language corner activity area. As the red silk cloth slowly descended, the “Chinese Corner” and “English Corner” signs were officially revealed, marking the formal opening of these two new exchange spaces to faculty and students.

Following the unveiling ceremony, student representatives from China and abroad delivered speeches. They expressed gratitude to the school for establishing the valuable platforms of the “Chinese Corner” and “English Corner,” which provide students with authentic and natural environments for language exchange and learning. They also pledged to actively serve as language learning partners and cultural ambassadors in the future, promoting the exchange and development of multiculturalism within the school.

At the conclusion of the event, Li Jia, delivered a closing address that fully affirmed the positive significance of establishing the language corner activity area and expressed expectations for future activities. She emphasized that both the “Chinese Corner” and “English Corner” must adhere to the principles of language exchange and cultural mutual learning. They should strive to organize activities that are popular among and mutually beneficial for Chinese and international students, while ensuring regularity and diversity in these events. This will transform them into bridges connecting the hearts of students from China and abroad, as well as windows showcasing the charm of diverse cultures. Ultimately, they should become one of the most vibrant and welcoming language hubs on campus.

In the future, SIE will continue to leverage the “Chinese Corner” and “English Corner” as key communication platforms, establishing new spaces for mutual understanding and exchange among Chinese and international students at our university. Through hands-on experiences, students will explore the profound heritage and artistic charm of Chinese culture. This initiative aims to cultivate international students into ambassadors who understand and befriend China, while also guiding Chinese students to appreciate global narratives, bridge cultural divides, and contribute TCU's unique strengths to building a community with a shared future for mankind.
