On December 31, 2025, as the old year gave way to the new, a group of special performers graced the stage at Tianjin Shuixi Park's New Year's Eve celebration. Six Tajikistan students from our university took to the vast stage, juggling diabolos to the melodious strains of “Ascending the Spring Mountain,” presenting Tianjin residents with a uniquely captivating cultural feast.

This performance was part of a New Year's Eve special program at the invitation of Tianjin Television. On stage, the international students demonstrated masterful skills, their diabolo spinning like notes dancing to the background music, tracing graceful arcs. Paired with the fresh and melodious tune of “Ascending the Spring Mountain,” they created a vibrant, spring-filled atmosphere brimming with vitality. Following the performance, the audience responded with enthusiastic applause. Some citizens expressed surprise and pride at witnessing foreign friends demonstrating such passion and mastery for traditional Chinese arts.

“We are thrilled to participate in this performance,” said Abdulaziz, one of the international students, in fluent Chinese. “Playing the diabolo has deepened our understanding of Chinese culture and allowed us to experience Tianjin's warmth and inclusiveness. We hope our performance brings New Year blessings to the people of Tianjin.”

A representative from Tianjin Television also noted that inviting international students to participate in the New Year's Eve performance was exceptionally brilliant. It successfully showcased Tianjin's character as an international metropolis where cultures converge, promoted multicultural integration, and added an international flair to the festivities.

This performance not only brought 2025 to a perfect close but also infused vitality and hope into the arrival of 2026. Through their diabolo performances, the international students spun friendship, spun brilliance, and spun their beautiful aspirations for the new year. Moving forward, the School of International Education will remain committed to its educational philosophy of “student-centered education and cultural bridges,” guiding international students to explore more of China's rich and vibrant cultural heritage with an even more open attitude and innovative approaches.
